Sotralentz Emballage - Habitat : the same factory for 2 trades.
The same factory for 2 trades, an association that has succeeded through its sustainability and its permanent dynamic.

What are the key figures of the Packaging production?
21 extrusion blow moulding machines, a machine population that is unique in Europe, with specific machines for Sotralentz Habitat and others for Sotralentz Packaging. A team of 150 and products from 900 grams to 120 kilos blown.

What changes have you undertaken?
We have to work in a narrower and narrower perimeter: reducing the scrap time at the start of the machines, planning adjustment sheets thanks to our safeguard programmes. In a word, becoming even more rigorous. For that, we have changed to 2/2/2 product production since 18th August.

What is 2/2/2 production?
2/2/2 shows the willingness to rationalize both the Sotralentz Habitat and Sotralentz Packaging ranges. We can produce + 20% of Sotralentz Habitat orders that before had to refuse clients during certain periods. This formula allows us to be very flexible and to have the reaction capacity to meet all the product production criteria. With this in mind, 2/2/2 will enable us to optimize the shifts on the machines in order to create a fourth shift.
It is a popularization of the 4 4/8 shifts that work 2 days mornings, 2 days afternoons, 2 days nights and two days rest. It is a 100% 'factory' idea.

What advantage does 2/2/2 production have?
It is a smoothed production that avoids machine stoppages and start-ups. It increases the versatility of both personnel and moulds on the machines. The same product can be manufactured on several different machines. It allows the right product to be made on the right machine and also avoids the build-up of orders that occurred when there was just one production on one machine.

If we are talking about the different trades, what impact has 2/2/2 had on Sotralentz Habitat and on Sotralentz Packaging?
We are optimizing the coexistence of two trades on a single industrial tool. In packaging we can work with lean supply flow to reduce stocks of finished and semi-finished articles and to get better reaction capability. For Habitat, the known effects of seasonal variations in product can be better planned for: the fuel oil season (October-April) and the waste-water treatment season (May-September).

The new 2/2/2 organization has been operational since August 2003.
