It was in 1964 that the welded wire mesh activity was developed alongside the traditional company activity of heavy metal work. The company, which was at first called 'Sotral' and managed by Jean Lentz, was the first company in France to make welded wire mesh, in the middle of the construction boom and the increasing use of concrete. The production buildings continued to expand. Under its dynamic and ambitious director, the company also built housing for its personnel, using what it produced: wire works for concrete prefabrication. Wire mesh, a new reinforcement, soon became a leading product in the field of construction and Sotralentz soon became a leading company in this constantly changing market. In 1969, Jean Lentz added a new activity which he developed under the name of Cotramo (from 'construction, travaux, montage' - construction, general works and assembly). In 1970, the companies Lentz and Sotral merged to form Sotralentz. From then on, two trades were operated together definitively in the same metals sector: heavy metal work and wire works.
